DV Lottery Photo Requirements
You must include one recent photo of your self and every family member listed on the application. Failure to provide a photo of each applicant or providing a photo that does not meet the guidelines will most probably result in the denial of your lottery application. Recently the Department of State has switched to an all digital submission process including digital photos. Only digital photos are now accepted.
Green Card Lottery Photo Guidelines
- The applicant must be directly facing the camera, and their head should not be tilted up down or to the side.

Photos with a dark, bright colored or patterned background will not be accepted
- Photos must be in focus.
- Applicants can not be wearing sunglasses or other objects which block the face.
- Photos of applicants wearing head coverings or hats will only be acceptable due to religious beliefs, and they may not obscure the face.
